Health Care

Health & Veterinary Care

The health and welfare of every rabbit and guinea pig staying at Hop & Hound is our highest priority.

Owners are responsible for ensuring that all pets arrive in good health and are fit to board. We cannot accept animals that appear unwell on arrival, If you're pet is currently receiving medical treatment we will need authorisation from your vet that they are fit to board, we may still refuse boarding in this case.   We refuse to board any pet that is pregnant, or have wet, dirty bottoms. Please let us know before booking if your pet has any existing medical conditions or additional care requirements on the form we will provide for you.

If your pet requires prescribed medication, this must be discussed and agreed with us before boarding. Medication will only be administered where we are confident we can safely meet your pet's individual requirements.

During the warmer months, Hop & Hound routinely applies Fly Guard as a preventative measure unless your rabbit has already been treated before arrival. Please let us know on your booking form if this is the case.

If your pet becomes unwell during their stay, we will make every reasonable effort to contact you immediately to discuss the situation. If urgent veterinary treatment is required and we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact, we may seek veterinary assistance in your pet's best interests, you will be asked to sign a Veterinary Authorisation Form on drop off.

All veterinary fees, medication, transport costs and any associated expenses are the responsibility of the owner. We strongly recommend that owners have suitable pet insurance in place to help cover any unexpected veterinary costs that may arise during boarding.

While every reasonable care will be taken to provide a safe, clean and secure environment, all animals are boarded at the owner's risk. Hop & Hound will not be liable for illness, injury, loss or death except where required by law. Owners are also responsible for ensuring that both they and their pets behave safely whilst on the premises.
